Cn. Chang et al., THE CU K(BETA) K(ALPHA) INTENSITY RATIOS OF SOME COPPER-COMPOUNDS ANDHIGH-T(C) SUPERCONDUCTING CUPRATES/, Solid state communications, 87(11), 1993, pp. 987-992
The Cu K(beta)/K(alpha) intensity ratios have been measured for copper
compounds of Cu2O, CuO, Cu2S, CuS, CuF2 and CuCl2 and high-T(c) super
conducting cuprates of Y(Ba1-x Srx)2Cu3-0.21xMo0.21xOy with x=0 approx
imately 1, The large increase of Cu K(beta)/K(alpha) intensity ratio i
n high-T(c) superconductor relative to other copper compounds is inter
preted as the increase of transitions from Cu valence band to Cu(Is) s
tate, when Cu(3d) and 0(2p) are highly hybridized. The decrease of Cu
K(beta)/K(alpha) intensity ratio with the increase of x in the high-T,
superconducting cuprates indicates both the Sr and Mo ions have negat
ive input to the degree of hybridization of Cu(3d) and 0(2p) bands.
