We present Hubble Space Telescope (HST) observations of the galactic c
enter region using the Planetary Camera with the F1042M filter at an e
ffective wavelength of 1.02 mum. We detect several infrared sources se
en at this wavelength before but with angular resolution better than p
revious observations. Our data reveal the source GZ A which was first
seen by Rosa et al. [A&A, 257, 515 (1992)] at 1 mum. However, our astr
ometry identifies this source as IRS 16C, not Sgr A. We marginally de
tect an object at 2 to 3sigma coincident with the position of Sgr A t
o within 0.2''. This object has unphysical continuum colors which are
bluer than an infinite temperature blackbody. If the source is real an
d associated with Sgr A, 1 mum line emission is a possible explanatio
n. The possibility of this object being a foreground star or an HST ar
tifact cannot be ruled out.
