Pk. Mcewen et al., INFLUENCE OF ARTIFICIAL HONEYDEW ON LARVAL DEVELOPMENT AND SURVIVAL IN CHRYSOPERLA-CARNEA [NEUR, CHRYSOPIDAE], Entomophaga, 38(2), 1993, pp. 241-244
The effects of providing (a) an artificial honeydew consisting of yeas
t autolysate, sugar and water in the ratio 4:7:10 live prey (eggs of E
phestia kuehniella), and (b) water and life prey, on larval developmen
t and survival in the green lacewing Chrysoperla carnea were examined.
Compared with larvae provided with eggs and water, those given eggs a
nd artificial honeydew were more likely to complete their development
and did so significantly more rapidly.
