Abstract
One does not pursue ecological activist efforts long before realizing that an impressive array of forces impede any change efforts. Several of the lessons learned from ecocounseling projects are discussed in de tail. Finally, a careful analysis of conservation programs sponsored b y public utilities are found to inadvertently produce economic hardshi ps for the poor Part of the research agenda of ecocounseling psycholog ists might be to develop programs to alleviate the economic hardships that some conservation programs might now unknowingly inflict on lower income groups.
