Gi. Chikhirzhina et al., SPECIFIC BINDING OF NUCLEAR PROTEINS TO REGULATORY REGION OF RAT TRYPTOPHAN OXYGENASE GENE, Biochemistry, 58(3), 1993, pp. 243-248
The specific binding of rat liver nuclear proteins to fragments contai
ning nucleotides 466-292 and 292-178 relative to the transcription sta
rt site of the rat tryptophan oxygenase gene was analyzed by electroph
oretic mobility. Studies of the competition with a synthetic consensus
sequence for the nuclear factor 1 (NF 1) recognition site showed that
the liver nuclear proteins responsible for the formation of specific
complexes with these fragments belong to the NF 1 family. Transacting
factors of the NF 1 family also form several complexes with each of th
e two tested fragments of the tryptophan oxygenase gene.
