Pk. Dash et al., ANTICOCCIDIAL EFFICACY OF MONENSIN AND HALOFUGINONE IN EXPERIMENTAL EIMERIA-TENELLA INFECTION IN BROILER CHICKS, Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 63(9), 1993, pp. 918-923
Efficacy of monensin sodium and halofuginone at the dose rate of 100 p
pm in poultry feed, respectively, were assessed against experimental E
. tenella infection in broilers based on clinicobiochemical and growth
performances. Both the drugs were coccidiocidal and enhanced the grow
th of broilers compared to non-medicated healthy control. Halofuginone
was more effective during clinical coccidiosis. The use of these cocc
idiostats in double dosage did not give any significant response durin
g clinical outbreak. Plasma glucose and serum alkaline phosphatase dur
ing coccidiosis may be of diagnostic value.
