MODELING AND ANALYSIS OF JUST-IN-TIME MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS

Just-In-Time (JIT) systems impinge on all operations of a firm, includ ing design, accounting, finance, marketing, distribution, etc. and are thus of great interest to all levels of a firm's management. Realizin g the success of JIT, especially in manufacturing organizations, an at tempt has been made in this paper to review the available literature o n JIT manufacturing systems under a suitable classification scheme. Th e main objective of this review is to identify the applicability of th e existing models and suggest further research in modelling and analys is of JIT systems for additional improvement of the system performance .
