Abstract
Using synchrotron X-rays, we evidenced in single crystals of Bi2Sr1.9L a0.1CuO6+delta the existence of diffuse scattering streaks associated with the incommensurate modulation. Detailed structure factor calculat ions show that the diffuse scattering is due to two-dimensional correl ations of phase defects, which we suggest to be related to the extra o xygen atoms.
