Abstract
Results obtained by measuring Ultrasonic Emission (UE) from volcanic r ocks on Lipari island are reported. The lack of volcanic activity and revealable volcanic tremor on Lipari, (two phenomena that, together wi th magmatic tide, we hypothesize as the principal causes of UE on Stro mboli) suggest Earth tide as responsible for UE generation on the rock surface.
