Abstract
A computer orientation and training program was developed on an inpati ent unit at a state-operated psychiatric center for young adult patien ts with chronic mental illness. The program duration was eight weeks a nd the material covered three major software packages: WordPerfect, Lo tus 123 and dBase. Patient interest and involvement in the program has been positive and the program is being expanded to include patients f rom other units within the hospital.
