Abstract
Nocardia farcinica, isolated by Nocard in 1888, has recently been rede fined as a separate species to asteroides and has been recognised as h uman pathogen since 1975. Following airbone contamination, lung infect ion is most usual with frequent dissemination especially to central ne rvous system. Usually drug resistance makes treatment difficult.
