K. Fukuta et al., LONG-TERM COMPLICATIONS OF THE GALEAL-FRONTALIS MYOFASCIAL FLAP IN CRANIOFACIAL SURGERY, European journal of plastic surgery, 16(4-5), 1993, pp. 174-176
Frontal contour irregularities, sensory deficit of the forehead and lo
ss of frontalis muscle function may occur following elevation and use
of the galeal-frontalis flap. These three problems were evaluated retr
ospectively using a questionnaire and clinical examination in 48 cases
. Frontal contour deformities were seen in 9 cases. Hypoesthesia of th
e forehead and weakness of eyebrow movement were seen in 30 and 35 pat
ients, respectively. It was found that a number of patients had not no
ticed their deformities before the examination. The post-operative com
plications of the galeal-frontalis flap seemed to be of no concern to
the patients.
