Abstract
Foreign materials are often seen by light microscopy in surgical or au topsy specimens sent from the cardiovascular clinical services. This p aper describes the range of materials that may be recovered in such sp ecimens and provides a pictorial guide to aid in their identification. The spectrum of medical and nonmedical foreign materials that may be encountered in the cardiovascular system is discussed.
