Sa. Fakiha et al., KINETICS AND MECHANISM OF THE THERMAL-DECOMPOSITION OF COBALT(II), NICKEL(II) AND COPPER(II) CINNAMATE COMPLEXES IN DYNAMIC NITROGEN ATMOSPHERE, Journal of thermal analysis, 39(7), 1993, pp. 913-922
The thermal decomposition of cinnamate complexes of cobalt(II), nickel
(II) and copper(II) was carried out using thermogravimetry (TG), deriv
ative thermogravimetry (DTG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DS
C). The kinetics and mechanism of the decomposition process were evalu
ated. The different stages of decomposition were identified from the T
G and DTG curves. The kinetic parameters were evaluated from the TG cu
rves using the Coats-Redfern equation. For cobalt and nickel cinnamate
the decomposition process follows the mechanism of three dimensional
diffusion D3 while the decomposition mechanism of copper cinnamate fol
lows the random nucleation mechanism F1 with the formation of one nucl
eus on each particle (Mample equation). The heat of reaction for the d
ecomposition process was determined using DSC.
