Highly textured Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox (2-2-1-2) and Bi1.8Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox (2-2
-2-3) bars of various densities were fabricated by sinter forging. Som
e bars contained 10-20 vol% particulate Ag additions. It was found tha
t the Ag additions had little influence on either strength or fracture
toughness, although slight benefits may have resulted for specimens l
ess than almost-equal-to 90% dense. Good phase purities and high densi
ties led to the good overall mechanical properties.
