Abstract
Lignings were extracted from Pinus caribaea var. hond. using dioxan/aq ueous 1.0 N HCl (9:1) solution at different extraction times (0.5-5.0 hours). The obtained lignins were characterized by elemental analysis, methoxyl and phenolic hydroxyl contents. The molecular weights and mo lecular weight distributions were determined by HPSEC. The results sug gest an occurrence of preferential delignification of the middle lamel la region.
