D. Hofmann et al., EVIDENCE FOR SUSTAINED PLATELET ACTIVATION IN PATIENTS WITH EARLY POSTINFARCTION ANGINA, Thrombosis research, 72(2), 1993, pp. 139-143
Excretion of 2,3-dinor-thromboxane B2 released from activated platelet
s has been found elevated in patients with acute myocardial infarction
and unstable angina. To investigate the role of thrombotic activity i
n postinfarction angina we measured urinary concentrations of 2,3-dino
r-thromboxane B2 in 20 patients over 10 days after myocardial infarcti
on. Compared with 11 patients recovering pain-free, excretion of 2,3-d
inor-thromboxane B2 was found elevated in 9 patients who developed pos
tinfarction angina. Accordingly, early postinfarction angina appears t
o be associated with ongoing thrombotic activity.
