Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the concept of educability and its relationship to leacher education. Teachers and te acher training programs are being increasingly confronted with the com plex issues related to students with severe mental retardation. A brie f review of literature documenting contemporary best practices for suc h students presents a challenge for teacher educators.
