Abstract
The evolution of microstructure in a weld has been analyzed under stea dy state conditions. The history dependent parameters are integrated a long flow lines. A data structure to assist in creating flow lines and setting starting conditions of the flow lines is described. The metho d has been applied to two welds and has proved to be fast and efficien t. A significant gain in computing speed and/or spatial resolution ove r transient analyses has been achieved.
