The immatures of Amblyomma tigrinum Koch and A. neumanni Ribaga, as we
ll as the larvae of A. testudinis (Conil) are described from specimens
reared in a laboratory. A. tigrinum nymphs display a palpal morpholog
y typical of a relatively primitive Amblyomma, together with large spu
rs on the gnathosoma. On the other hand, A. neumanni nymphs are unique
among Amblyomma in having palpal segment IV deeply imbedded in the ve
ntro-internal portion of segment IH. Finally, the morphology of larval
A. testudinis relegates the species to a primitive position in the ge
nus.
