Results are presented of measurements utilizing two counter propagatin
g CO2 waveguide lasers interacting simultaneously with SF6 molecules i
n a molecular beam. 95 new two-photon transitions were observed and as
signed, for combinations of two different CO2 laser lines. Especially
transitions to levels of E(g) vibrational symmetry provide new informa
tion on the parameters of the Hamiltonian because previous one-colour
measurements could barely access these levels. Still no transitions we
re found to levels with A1g vibrational symmetry. Some results are pre
sented on three- and four-photon transitions.
