Pc. Huang et K. Vafai, FLOW AND HEAT-TRANSFER CONTROL OVER AN EXTERNAL SURFACE USING A POROUS BLOCK ARRAY ARRANGEMENT, International journal of heat and mass transfer, 36(16), 1993, pp. 4019-4032
In this study, a composite system made of multiple porous block struct
ure used for flow and heat transfer control will be analyzed. The prim
ary objective of this study is to analyze the changes in the flow patt
ern and heat transfer characteristics due to the existence of the mult
iple porous block structure. A general flow model that accounts for th
e effects of the impermeable boundary and inertial effects is used to
describe the flow inside the porous region. Solutions of the problem h
ave been carried out using a finite-difference method through the use,
of a stream function-vorticity transformation. Various interesting cha
racteristics of the flow and temperature fields in the composite layer
are analyzed and discussed in detail. The effects of several governin
g dimensionless parameters, such as the Darcy number, Reynolds number,
Prandtl number, the inertia parameter, as well as the effects of pert
inent geometric parameters, are thoroughly explored.
