Abstract
Neutron powder diffractometry has been used to examine bulk, volume-av eraged, microstrain character for each of the crystalline phases in a suite of zirconia-toughened alumina ceramics. Line-broadening estimate s and cell parameter shifts, determined by the Rietveld method, have p rovided microstrain assessments of the nonuniform and uniform types, r espectively.
