Abstract
We consider a gauge theory based on the SU(5/1) supergroup. A new vers ion of the Wilson flux breaking mechanism is introduced intimately con nected to the quantum structure of the space on which the theory is de fined. As a result, the standard SU (3) x SU (2) x U (1) model elicits out of the unified scheme while problems such as the doublet-triplet splitting find a natural resolution. The model is presented as a proto type of the kind of unification and/or spontaneous symmetry breaking t hat can be visualized in the general context of non-commutative geomet ry.
