NITRATE CONTENT OF POTATOES RESULTING FRO M FIELD EXPERIMENTS CONCERNING TO PRODUCTION MEASURES WHICH TAKE CARE TO THE ENVIRONMENT

In field experiments production maesures were tested which should redu ce limit nitrate in potato tubers. As such measures were recognised: a djusting the N-fertilization to the need of nitrogen and to the source in the soil (N(min)); placing of fertilizer nearthe plants; the use o f nitrification inhibitors, the irrigation; the choice of varieties. T oo much nitrogen fertilizer decreases or prevents the efficiency of ot her maesures to reduce nitrate content. Weather and quality of soil ha ve an important influence.
