Abstract
Three coal samples chosen for the study were found explodable as per f lammability test in Godbert's apparatus1. On the basis of results gene rated from experiments with the same taking ten ranges of particle siz es from each one of them, it has been possible to establish empirical relations between the ash-contents and their grain sizes. The study af fords not only to provide experimental support that the ash-content of any of the three samples changes with its grain sizes but also to est imate, whenever required, its amount at any of its grain size. A singl e equation combining the three equations has been incorporated special ly for application in the study of these coal samples in their pulveri zed state or their suspensions in air.
