Abstract
A new algorithm for non-uniform delta modulation is presented. It is c alled statistical delta modulation (SDM) due to the statistical nature of clock instants. SDM is especially suitable for the modulation of t he service channel based on the line code redundancy, where no other k nown delta modulation with uniform clock can be applied. SDM and linea r delta modulation (LDM) are compared by computer simulation.
