Abstract
An optical surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-based sensor for in-line di stillation-process measurement has been developed. A four-layer config uration is used to achieve the operational range required and to impro ve the mechanical stability of the sensor. The device, a fully optical passive component, is suitable for installation in hazardous environm ents. Data obtained in the monitoring of flavour-mixture distillation processes are presented and the use of different dielectric coatings i s discussed.
