Jk. Hasart et Kl. Hutchinson, THE EFFECTS OF EYEGLASSES ON PERCEPTIONS OF INTERPERSONAL-ATTRACTION, Journal of social behavior and personality, 8(3), 1993, pp. 521-528
This study experimentally investigated the effects of eyeglasses, for
both a male and female model, on perceptions of interpersonal attracti
on. One hundred fifty three subjects completed the McCroskey and McCai
n (1974) interpersonal attraction measure for slides of a male and fem
ale glasses/no glasses model. The research generally adds support to a
''negative glasses effect. '' Significant main effects were observed
for both glasses/no glasses and stimulus person sex on task attraction
. Results are discussed in light of prior research that has posited a
''positive glasses effect. ''
