Abstract
Two sulfatovanadium(III) complexes, trans-K3[VIII(ox)2(mu-SO4)] (1) an d trans-K5[VIII(ox)2(SO4)2] (2), were prepared. The X-ray crystallogra phy of complex 1 showed that the complex consists of a one-dimensional polymer chain with a bridging sulfate ion. In aqueous solution, howev er, the sulfate bridge is cleaved and the sulfate ion coordinates to v anadium(III) unidentately. Complex 2 has been characterized by element al analysis, and Raman and infrared spectra.
