The elongation of fatty acids in microsomes of Mucor lusitanicus fungi
was studied in vitro. It was shown that [malonyl-2-C-14]-CoA is incor
porated chiefly into monoenoic and trienoic fatty acids of the total m
icrosomal lipids. The-activity of the enzyme complex in this case depe
nds on the culture conditions, in particular, on the temperature.
