Abstract
Dimethyl oxalate is efficiently hydrogenated to ethylene glycol under mild conditions [p(H-2) 70 bar; 100 degrees C] using a ruthenium catal yst based on Ru(acac)(3) and MeC(CH(2)PPh(2))(3).
