Two cases of diffuse cavernous haemangioma of the rectum are reported
and a thorough review of the world literature with a sum of 79 patient
s is done. We advocate low anterior resections for the treatment of th
is disease ; sleeve resections are not necessary, since the recurrent
bleeding and-complication rates are not statistically different from t
he low anterior resections without mucosal stripping.
