N. Bredin et al., Emission and atmospheric dispersion of metals produced by the valorizationof scrap tires in a cement kiln., AFINIDAD, 55(477), 1998, pp. 348-356
In this work, it has been studied the influence on the metals emission (for
example Fe, AI, Zn, Mn, Cr, Cu, ph and Hg) to the atmosphere, using worn t
ires as fuel that replaces the coal in the cement manufacture. The metals o
bserved together with the solid particles In the gaseous effluent, are disp
ersed In the atmosphere through chimneys or stacks. The quantification of t
he maximum concentration at the ground level has been determined by means o
f the simulation programme ISC-ST2, prepared by the Environmental Protectio
n Agency of United States. The experimental data required ate: chimenys cha
racteristics (number, localization, height ang Inner diameter), meterologic
al data, flow and temperature of the gaseous effluent as well as concentrat
ion of the main emitted metals, receivers localization, topographical map a
nd localization of buildings in the industrial area. It has been shown that
although the emission of metals is higher when tires are used, the atmosph
eric dispersion is able to reduce this effect in a very significative way.
