In vitro array type standard for the evaluation of insecticide activity inPiper auritum leaves (Piperaceae).

On this work we present a study based on a matrix statistical model to eval uate the insecticidal activity of different polarity extracts of Piper auri tum leaves on the biological model: Drosophila melanogaster. The division o f the dichloromethane extract which showed more activity, allowed the isola tion and identification of safrole as the responsible compound of the activ ity. The matrix statistical model used is useful to determine the percentag es of mortality as a dependence of the concentration and the time, opposed with the traditional models which the time is considered as a constant when the dosis with activity are determined.
