Maleimide-terminated polyurethane(A-component)/allyl nonyl novolac resin(B-
component)/BDM crosslinked polymers (CP) (ABCP) were prepared from polyuret
hane prepolymer (PU), phenolic resin, bismaleimide of diphenyl methane (BDM
) and maleimide. The effect of BDM on the compatibility as well as the mech
anical and thermal properties of the inhomogeneous polymer networks was inv
estigated through differential scanning calorimetric analysis, dynamic mech
anical thermoanalysis, tensile strength tests and transmission electron mic
roscopy. The results reveal that BDM fails to improve the miscibility. A hi
gher content of BDM promotes phase separation, while a lower BDM contents b
rings about good tensile strength.
