A diverse sample of 503 matched dual-income relocated couples (employe
e and accompanying spouses) from 74 organizations across the United St
ates and Canada provided data for the present study. Spouses' interest
in job-related relocation assistance was examined, and their differen
tial interest in service explored across different types of spouses. R
esults indicated that variables such as sex of the accompanying spouse
and job seeking self-efficacy were important in understanding spouses
' need for employment assistance. Results are discussed in terms of th
eory-building and practical suggestions for assisting spouses and thei
r families following relocation. (C) 1997 Academic Press.
