A STUDY ON SC(III), Y(III) AND LA(III) SO RPTION BY MEANS OF A RESIN HAVING COMPLEX PROPERTIES

A selective chelating resin was prepared by loading Eriocromcyanine R (ECR) on a conventional anion-exchange resin, Dowex 2x4(CT). The loade d resin was stable in 0.1 M HCl. Its equilibrium sorption capacity, as a function of time, and the sorption of Sc(III), Y(III) and La(III) w ere studied. The loaded resin showed high selectivity towards Sc(III). The sorption capacity of the ECR-loaded resin for Sc(III) was 57 mu m ole/g. The loaded resin was used for the separation of Sc(III) from Y( III) and La(III).
