Abstract
Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) requires the daily administration of about 38 individual components. Global costs are related to products, applicatio n procedures to the patient, monitoring and treatments of clinical complica tions (1-4, 7). Choosing the optimal strategy for TPN administration is ess ential both in terms of clinical effectiveness and economic efficiency, bec ause TPN is a relatively expensive nutrition therapy.
