Abstract
Homaloneura berenice n sp from the Vorhalle Beds (early Upper Carboniferous , Namurian B, higher Marsdenian) is the second species of Homaloneura [Pala eodictyoptera: Spilapteridae] recorded from the important Insecta-bearing l ocality of Hagen-Vorhalle (Rhenish Massif, Germany). It is mainly character ized by (1) its small size (length of mesothoracic alae = 17 mm), (2) small , apically pointed prothoracic alae, (3) weak supporting cross vein r-m, (4 ) lack of distinctly marked cuticular thickenings, and (5) only few small l ight spots on the meso- and metathoracic alae, arranged regularly in 3 band s.
