STUDIES ON THE STRUCTURE OF SOYBEAN GLYCO PROTEIN

Pure fraction PRF3, hydroxyproline - rich glycoprotein, was isolated f rom soybean cell wall material (dietary fibre) through sodium chlorite - acetic acid (NaClO2 - HOAc) extraction and chromatographic column p urification. The results of intensive structural characterization show ed that PRF3 contained beta(1-->4) linked galactan backbone which was branched at position 3 -C with alpha(1-->3) linked oligoarabinan as si de chains, and the polypeptide was glycosidically linked through hydro xyprolinyl arabinosides and serinyl galactosides.
