A controlled, retrospective trial of hemostatic homeostasis in Chernobyl wr
eckers has established that the exposure to the Chernobyl hazards entailed
emergence of a specific acquired thrombotic disease characterized by weak a
ntithrombogenic properties of the vessel wall, intravascular activation of
the thrombocytic, coagulatory and fibrinolytic components of the hemostatic
system. The above disorders of the hemostatic homeostasis may contribute t
o development of atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases, may accelerate a
geing. Thus, there is a need for correction of hemostatic homeostasis disor
ders in the Chernobyl wreckers to prevent relevant diseases.
