Abstract
"White-light" cooling of an ion beam confined in a storage ring has been de monstrated at Test Storage Ring in Heidelberg. Measurements aimed at compar ing "white-light" with single-mode laser cooling show that "white-light" co oling gives lower temperatures at higher ion densities both in a coasting a nd in a bunched beam.
