Abstract
RIKEN accelerator research facility (RARF) has started a project to extend the present heavy ion accelerator complex to produce high-energy and high-i ntensity radioactive ion beams. This report reviews the present status of R ARF and describes the new project, RIKEN RI Beam Factory. Some proposed exp eriments and possibilities in atomic physics are also described.
