We use the molecular dynamics computer simulation technique to study the be
havior of electron plasmas in the presence of highly charged ions and stron
g magnetic fields. Such systems are encountered in electron cooler and elec
tron target facilities, where large recombination rates have been observed.
Our simulation results show enhanced electron densities in the vicinity of
the ion, with the enhancement depending only weakly on the bulk density.
