Abstract
A few trinuclear mixed carboxylato complexes of nickel(II) with the general formula [Ni(O2CR)(SB)], [where HSB = Schiff bases derived from salicylalde hyde and aniline or p-chloroaniline and RCO2H = C13H27CO2H, myristic; C15H3 1CO2H, palmitic; C17H35CO2H, stearic; or C21H43CO2H, behenic acid] have bee n synthesized by substitution of anhydrous nickel(II) acetate with higher c arboxylic acids and Schiff bases. The reaction products are characterized b y their elemental analysis and conductance measurements. Molecular weight d eterminations indicate the trinuclear nature of these derivatives. Magnetic moments and electronic spectra suggest an octahedral environment around ni ckel(II) in the above complexes.
