The enthalpy of reaction of hydrazine sulphate and hydroxylamine hydrochlor
ide in various acid media has been studied by direct injection enthalpimetr
ic titration. The calorimetric method is used to study reaction kinetics in
solution using eerie ammonium nitrate in nitric and perchloric acids. The
enthalpy of reaction content of hydrazine sulphate in nitric acid is found
to be -8.47 kcal/mol, and for hydrazine sulphate in perchloric acid it is -
6.5 kcal/mol. For hydroxylamine hydrochloride enthalpy of reaction is found
to be -5.12 kcal/mol in perchloric acid media. The results have also been
analysed using a simple fortran program and optimizations carried out using
a multidimensional direct method. Modification as suggested by Powell have
been incorporated in fortran program. The rate constants are 0.028 s(-1) a
nd 0.037 s(-1) in HNO3 and HClO4.
