Abstract
Phase transitions in the intercalant layer of graphite intercalation compou nds with SbCl5 and ICI were studied in the temperature range 77-300 K. In S bCl5-intercalated disordered pyrolytic graphite, the SbCl6 phase was found to turn from, a quasi-crystalline to quasi-liquid state at 265-275 K. An an alogous transition in the ICI layer was observed at 290-320 K for both high ly oriented and disordered graphites.
