This paper describes the disruption and sputtering erosions on newly develo
ped SiC doped Carbon fiber reinforced composite (CFC). Disruption experimen
ts were performed under heat fluxes of 1000-2000 MW/m(2) with pulse length
of 2-4 ms in the temperature range from RT to 1000 degrees C at the JEBIS f
acility. Sputtering experiments were performed under the deuterium particle
flux of 1-2 x 10(20) m(2)/s with energy of 50-100 eV in the temperature ra
nge from 200 degrees C to 600 degrees C at the SLEIS facility. As a result,
it is clear that the sputtering yield from 200 degrees C to 450 degrees C
is about 0.09 and gradually decreases to 0.067 with increasing sample tempe
rature and that the disruption erosion of SiC doped CFC was about double th
at of the non-doped CFC and the erosion was mainly caused by the loss of th
e matrix part. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
