Strain effect on Eden model

The Eden model with a repulsive interaction between the cluster and the att ached atoms shows a tendency to form ramified clusters. With the r(-3)-pote ntial caused by the strain in two dimensions, the clusters show a ramified structure on a short-length scale, but eventually become compact on a large -length scale. With a longer-ranged r(-2)-potential, the Eden clusters beco me fractal, with fractal dimensions smaller than 2.
